SESSION HIGHLIGHTS
The February Regular Stated Session meeting was held Monday, February 26.
Because of the icy weather, the meeting had been delayed from the previous
Thursday. In addition to moderator, CLP Don Barger, eight elders were present as
follows: Shirley Bailey, Ray Brust, Audrey Edwards, Helen Mungle, Ted Mungle,
Betty Smith and Velva Yeomans. One visitor, Elder Rose Morgan also attended part
of the meeting. This was CLP Don Barger's first time to moderate Session. On the
reverse page the monthly financial statement through January, prepared by
Treasurer Rob Edwards, is printed.
Highlights include:
Continuing Elder Education:
CLP Barger chose for his topic, serving communion to the homebound. He is
also preparing an Order of Communion for elders to use when they are
visiting the homebound.
Minutes Approval:
Minutes of the Elder Retreat held January 12, the Annual Congregational
Meeting held January 13, Called Session Meeting of January 13, and the
Called Session Meeting of February 10, were approved.
Meeting of Western Kentucky
Presbytery:
Elder Helen Mungle and CLP Don Barger attended the Western Kentucky
Presbytery meeting on February 12 at First Presbyterian Church,
Russellville, representing Westminster. Rose Morgan, a member of the
Committee on Missions Development, also attended as this committee was
presenting a proposal that will be covered under Acts Initiative. Rev. Dr.
Patrick Napier was installed as moderator and Elder Willee Cooper was
installed as vice moderator for the coming year. Next meeting will be held
at First Presbyterian Church, Murray on May 13.
Act Initiative:
The Western Kentucky Presbytery Mission Development Committee will be
hosting a retreat at Pennyrile State Park on March 28 and 29 to present a
program they hope will be approved by each church in the Presbytery. Each
church was invited to have three representatives, including the pastor, to
attend. Pastor Don will be attending class at Louisville Seminary so Helen
Mungle, Michele Sither, and Velva Yeomans will represent Westminster. Rose
Morgan will also be attending as a member of the sponsoring committee.
Taping of Sunday Worship:
David Gray records the Sunday worship service and Elder Ray Brust has been
taking the CD to those homebound who request it.
Nominating Committee:
A congregational meeting will be scheduled so that the congregation may
elect an elder to fill the elder vacancy in the Class of 2010 and the Pastor
Nominating Committee.
Trustees:
The Crounse Corporation has listed two parcels of their property, including
the parking lot adjacent to the church, for sale.
Communion Served to the
Homebound:
Pastor Don and Elder Cathy Crecelius served communion to Mary Frances Hurt
at her home and Sue Rossmassler at Superior Care on February 3.
